AW Systems is looking for a .NET Web Developer that hates cubicles, enjoys working through development challenges and codes for fun. You’ll be part of a close-knit team, working together to tackle complicated development problems and create great web applications.
We are a small, personal and fun-loving web development firm located in midtown Manhattan. We have a diverse client base, ranging from government and global non-profits to financial institutions to independent eCommerce sites. We are a relatively flat organization meaning that from day one you’ll be working with company founders to not only develop exciting client websites, but to move forward our internal tools (for example, our open source SharePoint development platform, SLAM) and (we like to hope) the state of web usability design.
We are a C# shop but will consider candidates with VB.NET experience with the understanding that they will be required to learn C# immediately if hired. In addition, we consider SharePoint development experience a plus for this position.
Position:
You will work on both front-end ASP.NET application development as well as back-end SQL Server work. You should have demonstrable experience with HTML/CSS/Javascript.
Your responsibilities will include design, development, testing and deployment of projects in concert with our software team and clients. In addition, you will research and develop technologies that will allow us to increase effectiveness and create more compelling solutions for our clients
Experience/skills required:
- ASP.NET (preferably in C#, but VB.NET will be considered)
- HTML, CSS, Javascript
- SQL Server 2005
- Object-oriented software development
- Building database-driven web applications
- 2+ years experience programming (preferably professional experience, but we are open to candidates right out of school if they can demonstrate their ability)
Additional experience/skills desired:
- C#
- XML / XSL
- Source Control ( CVS / Subversion / Visual Source Safe)
- Service Oriented Architecture / Web Services
- Guitar Hero/Rock Band + Wii Sports
- SharePoint development experience a plus
Benefits:
- Health insurance coverage
- Flexible hours, including ability to do some work from home
- Retirement account (401k)
- Access to the company toys (Wii, Xbox 360 with growing library of games, both hooked up to our huge LCD TV)
- Fancy developer equipment
IMPORTANT! Applications will not be considered unless thoughtful answers to the following questions are provided in your email:
1. Describe the relevant web development projects in which you were involved. State your specific responsibilities and the tools you used. If possible, please provide the URLs or screenshots from those web sites.
2. Why do think you would be a good fit for the position being offered (please be specific)?
3. What is your salary requirement?
4. Describe a pet project web application you’ve created in your free time
