As the Manager, Database Administration for Wal-Mart International eCommerce division, you’ll have the opportunity to help design, implement and support the database for Wal-Mart’s next-generation, global e-Commerce Platform. This hands-on position, reporting to the Snr Manager at Walmart and will be responsible for design, implementation and support of the database in a massively scalable, high performance, multi-tenant, international eCommerce platform in a Java EE and Oracle environment, working together with the Architects, Engineering Managers, Business and Product management teams. The position will serve as the technical lead and manager for the globally distributed database administrators working and supporting this global platform. The individual will also perform DBA tasks as necessary. The team manages mission critical OLTP and OLAP systems for Wal-Mart’s global business in a 24*7 environment. A wide degree of passion, creativity and efficiency is required.
• Serve as the technical lead for the database administrators of Wal-Mart’s next-generation, global Web platform
• Lead and work with DBAs from Vendors / System Integrators in supporting the databases for our platform
• Perform core DBA tasks such as Database Administration in an Oracle 10g and Oracle GRID/RAC environment, including performance tuning, schema creation, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting
• Identify, monitor, recommend, and implement changes to database applications ensuring satisfactory end-user response time with reliable database connectivity
• Coordinate DBA work assignments and participate in on-call 24×7 support
• Implement physical database changes, testing, and performance tuning on Oracle partitioned environment
• Prepare and/or review database activity, progress, and performance reports
• Maintain Oracle SQL and PL/SQL scripts, Unix shell scripts, including debugging and tuning.
• Create and maintain materialized views and schema refreshes
• Interact with application development, business intelligence, and analytics teams
• Implement production control and change management utilizing Remedy.
• Perform tasks involving complex batch job schedules and multiple priorities and action plans.
• Implement best practices utilizing Oracle database technologies and implementations.

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Oracle database
• 25% need based travel to third-party partners, Wal-Mart locations worldwide etc.
