Vertex Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Scientific Database Analysis Associate to join our Strategic Research and Development Networks group.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Experience supporting the development and/or management of commercial or custom-built computer databases for archiving and managing scientific reports and data; including document editing and data management, as well providing diverse support to database users*.
Strong familiarity with collaboration, knowledge sharing, and/or data management web tools and databases, such as eRoom, will be a key factor.
Effective cross-disciplinary communication skills and an eagerness to creatively engage scientists, business leaders, and software developers to fully understand complex issues and craft innovative solutions.
Solid project management skills that will reliably enable achievement of project objectives within assigned timelines.
The intellectual curiosity and drive to offer whole bodied solutions to the team (alliance managers, scientists, Finance and Legal representatives, etc) to ensure the successful organization of our alliances and research collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:
This individual will perform the role of database specialist focusing on furthering collaboration and knowledge management efforts within and outside of Vertex.
He or she will support the ?Strategic R&D Networks? department by managing, organizing, and transferring data and information related to research collaborations (active or at various stages of construction) through the use of an internally developed web tool and eRoom.
In managing the web tools and the data contained within, the individual will work with other team members and software (code) developers to creatively brainstorm regarding ways to streamline data flow and decision-making aspects.
Finally, this individual will work with scientists and business leaders to ensure the quality of data in various systems in order to support the quality decision making that propels the business forward.
Qualifications:
We are seeking an outgoing and innovative person with a Bachelor?s degree with a concentration in biomedical and/or chemistry, and 3-5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industries.
The successful candidate will be highly methodical in his/her attentiveness to detail, with experience in the development, implementation, and management of web tools and databases.
The role will require a proactive, self-motivating individual with excellent communicative and inter-personal skills as the individual will be expected to work with diverse team members within a matrix environment.
