Short story: Junior Developer/Production Coordinator responsible for coding and deploying emails and microsites to specified templates. 1 to 2 years of PHP/MySQL programming experience and strong knowledge of hand-coded HTML and CSS. 80% heads down coding position under direction of a team leader/project manager. Not a design position. Will work on a variety of web, email, and search projects. This is a LAMP career path (not .net). Full time, onsite position.

Junior Developer (PHP & MySQL)/Production Coordinator for web and email projects (advertising agency)

This person is responsible for developing, coding and deploying emails and microsites primarily based on specified templates and formats. Attention to detail required for high quality development and flawless deployment. Experience with PHP, MySQL, as well as strong HTML and CSS coding skills, is required. Responsibilities include email list prep and reporting using a variety of tools. This individual works closely with Creative Department to ensure accurate execution of design and content, but this is not a design position. In addition, the individual works with Account Teams to ensure timely execution and accuracy. Must be team player, have the ability to prioritize projects and multi-task, as well as possess “grace under pressure”. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Email development and deployment
  • Design and develop coding and automation for web sites (in PHP)
  • Execute coding and reporting for online surveys and other viewer interactions
  • Query writing in MySQL for data validation and reporting

Requirements:

  • Full time, on-site position (Financial District, Boston), no telecommuters
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in multi-person team, professional software development environment
  • B.S. degree
  • Command of English language (written and verbal) is mandatory
  • Knowledge of (with examples in portfolio that demonstrate experience)
    • PHP5 (at an “intermediate” level in a production environment)
    • Linux/Unix server experience including Red Hat, Ubuntu or Solaris
    • SQL coding experience (at “intermediate” level with MySQL 5)
