Title: Oracle DBA Engineer
Description:
This team member will provide Oracle 9i/10g DBA support. There will be a mix of typical DBA and Software engineering projects and tasks, which include working on database security, DRP, tuning, and upgrades. Will also work with software engineers on ORM queries, standards and change control.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure availability and performance of Oracle databases (OLTP and Data Warehouse servers and processes)
· Ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases.
· Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure availability, scalability and performance.
· Provide trend analysis to enable informed decisions regarding resource management.
· Improve and maintain the databases to include rollouts and upgrades.
· Implement and release database changes as submitted by the development team.
· Provide 24/7/365 on call emergency support.
· Work closely with the software development team.
Requirements:
· Proven Oracle Database Administration experience using versions Oracle 9i and 10G.
· Extensive programming background in SQL, PL/SQL and other scripting languages.
· Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
· Custom Data warehouse experience.
· Oracle Certification (OCM).
· A Big Plus: Familiarity supporting software applications that leverage Java/Hibernate ORM technology and JDBC.
· A Plus: Experience with Oracle XE.
